A beautiful antique Bedouin festive dress  from Quteife,  in Syria. This  dress with the embroidered winged sleeves illustrate the artistic skilfulness of the embroideresses. Red cotton. See similar dress and more details in " The arts and crafts of Syria " by Johannes Kalter, p. 178 ss. About 5o to 80 years old. Three small tears and , as usual,  some black stains, in front down and on the sleeves. Measuring about 130 cm. in height and 66 cm. armpit to armpit.

A superb old " Choli "  from Afghanistan. This very decorative piece was the uppert part of a dress. It's made of different pieces of old textiles, gracefully assembled and decorated with small glass beads, buttons and coins. The coins are dated from 1969-1970. In good conditions, but worn by intensive tribal use. It measure approx. 45.5 cm. by 27 cm. ( 17.91" by 10.62" ).

A beautiful old Bedouin " Abaya " or tunic probably from Rashaida Nomads in Sudan. In cotton richly embroidered with silver threads. In good conditions, but need dry cleaning, some small stains not significant and probably reversible. Two tears at the back, hastily sewn. An important part of the decor is made with real silver threads ( darker on the pictures ). Traditionnal Bedouin garment for women, made from differents strips of cloth sewn together. The maximum height measure about 111 cm. ( 43.70" ) and the width is ca 128 cm. ( 50.39" ). Easy to wear : no sleaves ! The first picture represent on other piece but is helpful to understsand the way to wear it.

A rare old body cloth from Sema or Chang Tribes  in Nagaland, Northeast India. See similar body cloth in " The Nagas " by Julian Jacobs, p. 276 ss. Black and red cloth decorated with cowrie shells and 28 dangles made up of dark brown glass beads and copper pipes. In good conditions, with some pieces unsewn. It measure about 134 cm. ( 52.75 inches  ) by 95 cm. ( 37.40 inches ).

The linen was embroidered with withe, yellow, pink and gold threads. In  good conditions, with some stains from the age and a small tear. It measure about 186 cm. ( 73.22 inches  ) in length and 23 cm. ( 9.05 inches ) in width. A collector's piece !
