An exceptionnal old pair of silver chased Khalkhal anklets from Mauritania. Wonderful and rare design featuring five balls representing the five pillars of Islam. A rare antique silver silver Berber chased " Akhelkhal " or anklet from Aurès, in Algeria. These pieces are totally absent of the bazaars. One sample is represented in " La femme Chaouïa de l'Aurès ", by M. Gaudry, Paris 1929 and in " Bijoux et Bijoutiers de l'Aurès " by Tatiana Benfoughal, p. 175. They were mostly in use in the years 1920-1930 by the womens Ouled Abdaoui and Ouled Daoud. A wonderful piece for collector ! Excellent quality of silver. The inner diameter is 8.4 cm. ( 3.30" ) and the height is 7.9 cm. ( 3.11" ). The inner circumference measure ca. 26.4 cm. ( 10.39" ). Weighs 154 grams ( 5.43 ounces ).

A wonderful old silver enameled Berber bracelet from  Tiznit, in South Morocco. Nice green, dark yellow and blue enamel, in excellent conditions but ligthly worn. The red color is not enamel but kind of wax or painting. It's embellished with red and green glass cut stones ( some chips, as usual for these old pieces ). NOT A RECENT COPY : About 50 to 60 years old. See more on these bracelets in " Bijoux du Maroc " by Jacques and Marie-Rose Rabaté ", p.58 ss. The height is 3.4 cm. The threads are made with leather. The back is made up with iron. Original conditions with all the leather decorations, aluminium wire and leather threads. An excellent old silver enameled Kabyle " Tabzimt " or fibula from Grande Kabylie, in Algeria. Beautiful design, with blue, yellow and green enamel in good conditions. Embellished with red coral cabochons. The back side is graciously decorated and enameled too. First half of 20th century. A very good piece for collectors and wearable ! Traces of small repairs on the back side ( see pictures ). A luscious and rare antique silver-gilt Bedouin " scorpion "  bracelet from Hebron, in Palestine. Wedding bracelet in 900 silver, hand hammered and gilt. This sample is in very good conditions, probably because it remain in the wedding chest and was not wear. Some traces of use however. Rare ! This kind of items is really hard to come by. First half of the 20th century, with later addition of egyptians hallmarks. See similar sample in " Traditional Palestinian Embroidery and Jewelry " by Abed Al-Samih Abu Omar, p.108 and 118 and in the Ghysel's Collection " A World of Bracelets ", by Anne van Cutsem, p. 30. Made up with small brass elements, shell-fish and wool. A very rare piece for collectors, in excellent conditions and complete ( wearable ! ).
