A beautiful antique mixed metals torque from Pakistan or Afghanistan. Great chased design with spikes appilqués. Decorated with small glass stones (worn). Well preserved. First half of 20th century. Worn by years of traditionnal use. See more on these torques in " Traditional Jewelry of India ", by Oppi Untracht, p. 227 ss.  and others sample in the Ghysels collection " Colliers Ethniques... A great old silver hinjed anklet or bracelet probably from Maharashtra, in Western India. Melted silver with superb chased and ajouré design. Excellent alloy of silver, containing copper. Fine patina. See similar examples in " Bijoux Ethniques d'Afrique, d'Asie et des Iles du Pacifique " , collection René van der Star, p.143. First half of 20th century. The hinge system make it wearable, but it's heavy. The interior diameter  ( up ) measure about 6.8 cm. ( 2.67" ) and the maximum height is 5.2 cm. ( 2.04" ). The inner circumference ( up ) is 21.3 cm. ( 8.38" ). Weighs 462 grams ( 16.29 Oz ).

Early to mid 20th century, made up of small units threaded together on cotton cord, then wrapped with silver thread. All the necklace is made up with very good alloy of silver, at the exception of the small triangular dangles, made with mixed metals. Decorated too with small silver coins ( jewellery coins ? ). An antique and great lost-wax cast brass ritual image of a Kondh warrior.  The Kondh are a tribal people of South Orissa, Nord-East India. Used by the Kondhs as offering. 19th Century : see similar pieces in the collection of the Victoria Albert Museum in London, inventoryied in 1916, in the Museum of the Quai Branly in Paris and in the Smithsonian Institution.
